Precision Surgery

So the Monkey’s computer gave up the ghost.  Well, actually it had a the equivalent of a embolism.  The CPU fan that is clamped over the cpu (duh) decided that it no longer needed to be clipped to the motherboard and in a fit of rage or a desire to secede , it broke the plastic clip attached to the motherboard and decided to hang out only by one tenuous metal clip.

The computer itself did not like this.  and with a loud and ominous CRACK! it stopped working.  In the middle of Sims as she was, she was quite surprised….

So after much debate and search of how to fix this, it was decided that to just buy a whole new computer.  Consider the fact that neither I nor the monkey know how to work on a motherboard to that extent that the repair would need and the fact that the computer she was using was  an old HP.  So decision made.

A journey across the cement jungle of Arizona and we come to Fry’s Electronics.  A gaggle of electronic goodness to give the bits a bit of a tingle.  (seriously)  We choose and peruse the entire store and pick out all the components.  W e get to the register with $1,200  worth of computer part goodness, and we are informed that they do not accept American Express.  Like it was some unknown currency.  They accept Visa and Mastercard, but not the AE.  Like saying oh I’ll drink Boone’s or Mad Dog 40/40 but A cask of Cabernet 1912??  No way!  We’ll have none of those shenanigans.

Lamesauce.

Anyway, we have all the parts home now and mostly assembled.  Her new comp laying exposed on the kitchen table.  It’s a delicate operation, and the patient is stable.  I’ll repost the outcome when I throw the switch.  Did the patient pull through?  Is the bear going to lose a patient on the table??  Will malpractice suits follow??  Stay tuned.
