Changes

So i do feel obligated to tell others about my change of heart in regard to my gaming.  My new gaming goodness of xbox360 has really illuminated a change in my thinking.

Previous to this i would have laughed at the mention that i would ever buy an xbox.  much less enjoy a range of excellent games on it.  You see before this i was a sony fan… perhaps even rabidly so.  My lov efor the system was after many years of gaming on the original NES and then the hallowed SNES. A transition to the first playstation, no the tiny white thing many confuse for being the first due to being named PS1, i’m talking about the very much rectangular gray square of a machine dubbed PSX.  Back when rumbling controllers was a gleam in some designer’s eyes.

Sony won me over with a huge library of games.  i mean huge, like freaking mammoth.  Games like resident evil and Armored Core, Crash bandicoot, Gex.. i will not say that every game they came out with was great, far from it, but they were freaking insane in their pursuit of games to be released fir that system.  Like freakin bunnies on a honeymoon.

So eventually a genius redesigns the PSX to be smaller, make it white give it  a new paint color, still have a huge library.  Not even the advent of the dreamcast could sway me fully from Sony, and they tried with Phantasy Star Online, believe me.  So then comes PS2. Still able to play the entire library that I amassed, bigger and better games.. heck yes, sign me up.  Ok so they pulled that same bullshit of “oh no, we did not make enough systems!!” but it did not effect me I had mine reserved from way back. (worked at a game store then, heh heh) I was still happy.

Ok so Microsoft throws their hat in the ring.  I scoffed.  Gates the Antichrist wants to get in gaming… pshhh. The system box was monstrous.  No really, the freaking thing was a damn furniture piece by itself.  The controller was freakin huge that even my big paws found it pretty uncomfortable. And a library of uh Halo…. and a sport game or two… then  Ninja Gaiden.  Don’t get me wrong they are good games, just you don’t get a whole new system for two games.. unless of course you’re rich. And in that event I congratulate you and key your “beemer”.

So Sony rightly felt on top of it all.  That’s the problem though.  They thought so much of themselves that now they don’t know what put them there.  Still the “oh no really we have no systems” to try to make their insane price tag seem reasonable…  If Sony CEO is looking for some systems he can go to my local Best Buy, they have seven.  No Wii’s though… hmmmm.

Meanwhile Microsoft has spent its time wisely. A newer system look, white is fine by me.  Controllers are wireless and very normal sized.  Even the monkey can fit her paws around one!  A bigger selection of good games, not nearly as huge as the PS2 in its prime, but all are pretty much A+ games.  I love the downloadable content of microsoft Live and the ability to try out demos of games before buying them, no more blockbuster 8 dollar a frakin game rentals to see if they suck.

All I am really trying to say is that I really do like th xbox 360.  And to explain to those who knew of my past Sony fervor, where it went and why.  The answer is Orange Box..  get one.   Seriously.
