The Bat and the Joke.
So went and saw “The Dark Knight” tonight, and wow. Simply wow. Now I do have a caveat to say, I am a fan of the new Batman envisioning, and even the old Keaton ones, but none of the following is any drivel from fanboy service at all. Though I do have to give Monkey major points for securing our tickets many days in advance.
I will be the first to admit that when Heath Ledger was announced as taking the part of Joker, I was less than pleased. Really Ledger?? Ten Things I Hate About You? I mean really??
So yeah I had to eat my words. He was fucking fantastic. A creepier and utterly twisted Joker I have never seen. It wasn’t just make up or lines, it was the mannerisms, the shoulders slouched at a time or the constant licking lips, the sheer malevolence that Ledger exudes when toying with victims and delight at peoples turmoil to make twisted choices…. freaking one scary dude. Hats off and simply bravo.
Of Course Christian Bale again does splendidly as both Bruce and Batman. I believe the previous Batman movies of a pre-Bale era always had a person cast in every single one that either made a perfect Bruce Wayne or a perfect Batman, but never both. Of course this is not even counting rubber nipples on the Bat-suit.
I will tell you of one dirty little secret, Monkey has a deep crush on Christian Bale, so uh should you have need of a favor or two, bribing her with a large poster of him is probably a sure bet.
There were many parts of the movie that catch and make you really vested in the plot and outcome of the characters. Maggie Gyllenhaal plays the part of recurring part and bat-flame Rachel Dawes, and also the flame of Harvey Dent, played by one of my long time favorite actors Aaron Eckhart. Seriously go rent “Thank You for Smoking”. There are so many things that happen with just these two characters alone that it boggles the little brainpan. Especially at one point, with Rachel Dawes. You’ll know it when it happens.
So uh yeah, go do yourself a favor and see this movie, or forever hold your manhood cheap. Hehe, Never saw that coming did you?
